A Mysterious Message

A True Story

I’ve always been fascinated by human connections—those invisible links we can’t define or explain. The story that follows is true. Whether it was pure coincidence or something more mysterious, I’ll let you decide.

A few years ago, I was heading into the city with my toddlers. My husband and I were trying to decide whether to meet at his workplace or somewhere else. Eventually, I thought it would be easier to meet at his office, so I sent him a quick message:

“Maybe it’s better if you stay there.”

Only… the message didn’t go to my husband. It went to a friend of mine.

In my life, I’ve sent tens of thousands of text messages, and only a few have ever gone to the wrong person. But this one did.

The friend who received it was someone I had met years earlier at a support camp for families who had lost a baby. We had both lost a child during childbirth. Now she was expecting again and happened to be at the hospital for a routine pregnancy check-up.

When she came out of the hospital, she saw my message:

“Maybe it’s better if you stay there.”

Of course, she realized it must have been sent to the wrong person, but still…

Everything in her check-up had been fine. Her baby was healthy. There was no reason for her to stay at the hospital. On her way home, she decided to stop at a shopping mall. There, she suddenly began bleeding so heavily that an ambulance rushed her back to the hospital.

I’ve often wondered about that message. Was it simply an extraordinary coincidence, or was it something more? Are there invisible connections between people that we don’t yet understand? Could there be links between consciousness, living beings, and even the physical world that science has yet to explain?

And what happened to my friend?

Months later, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
